REFLEX POWERâ„¢ MODULAR POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM EXPANDS

SAN DIEGO, CA, U.S.A.— AMETEK Programmable Power, Inc (APP) has introduced three new, high-power DC modules for its ReFlex PowerTM (RFP) programmable, modular power system. In addition, a newly developed graphical user interface (GUI) simplifies operation and enhances monitoring of the RFP system.

“The ReFlex PowerTM (RFP) platform has gained widespread acceptance for integration in next-generation military and commercial ATE systems. The RFP platform has become the ‘Power of Choice’ wherever AC, DC and load assets are required and expanding test requirements demand reconfigurable flexibility,” notes Tim Croal, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Programmable Power.

“Three new DC power modules provide additional voltage and current ranges at 1kW and 1.25kW maximum power. With the addition of these assets, the ReFlex PowerTM system has greatly multiplied system voltage and current combinations via the unique RFP series and parallel configurability to better meet customer test requirements, now and in the future,” adds Mr. Croal.

A newly released user interface also provides enhanced control and ease of operation during development and debug of test procedures through its intuitive controls. It simplifies troubleshooting, allows for process monitoring and enables direct control for bench top applications.

ELGAR XWAVE AC POWER SOURCE / FREQUENCY CONVERTER

SAN DIEGO, CA, U.S.A. — AMETEK Programmable Power has established new performance and value standards for 30 KVA to 480KVA AC power systems with the introduction of the Elgar XWAVE high-power AC power source/frequency convertor. The XWAVE Series delivers affordable high-power density, efficiency and modular flexibility using advanced MOSFET-based, switch-mode power conversion technology for a wide range of common AC power source applications, including:

  • Product design and acceptance testing to world wide AC mains voltage and frequency standards
  • Simulation of high-frequency AC bus parameters for aircraft and marine equipment
  • High-power AC mains power conditioning for sensitive equipment and
  • Replacement of noisy and inefficient motor-generator sets.

The flexible design of the XWAVE Series utilizes 10KW power modules to provide incremental output levels from 30KVA to 480KVA. A single cabinet can provide 120KVA with multiple cabinets configured for outputs from 120KVA to 480KVA. Its interchangeable components facilitate easy low-cost, on-site repairs and, should future requirements change, permit field upgrades and improvements.

The XWAVE series features outstanding THD performance, while providing the power density and efficiency benefits of advanced switch-mode power conversion technology. The result is more power with lower noise in less space. The XWAVE provides up to 150% of rated output current for up to 7 seconds to handle loads with heavy in-rush currents, and it has a line drip compensation feature to overcome distribution losses.

Standard models are offered with single or three-phase outputs in a variety of single or dual output ranges. Custom voltage outputs are available. All models offer both automated and manual control of voltage and frequency either through the front panel or analog control.

The XWAVE has a standard frequency operating range of 45 to 1000 Hz. This permits simulation of existing and emerging power bus standards for aircraft and marine applications. A no-cost option also is available that limits the top frequency to 500 Hz. A soft start feature protects input service from disturbances while enhancing reliability. Zig-zag multi-phase input rectification minimizes input line disturbances and provides a typical power factor of 0.8.
